Frontwoman Candace Buckingham says the song is about facing the inner turmoil that once helped you survive and turning it into fuel. It chooses positive aggression over hopelessness, with heavy breakdowns and straightforward, driving hardcore riffs.

Michael Barber Leaves Gloryhammer After a Decade to Lead Wizardthrone

October 6, 2026

Multi-instrumentalist Michael Barber left Gloryhammer after ten years to focus on Wizardthrone full-time. The project has just shared „Death Cycles“, its first new track since 2021’s „Hypercube Necrodimensions“. Barber now handles both lead vocals and guitar.

Mixed by Dave Otero (Archspire, Shadow of Intent), the song comes with artwork by Dan Goldsworthy, who also did the cover of the debut album. The band stay true to their self-described „extreme wizard metal“, but the new track is noticeably heavier.

It draws on melodic death, black and power metal, with influences such as Children of Bodom, Dissection and Wintersun. The mathematical chaos of earlier records gives way to a heavier, more direct sound.

Lyrically, the song imagines an alien entity compressing every possible version of existence into a single point. Barber wrote it in response to the last few years of his life, as burnout, grief and the passage of time turn into cosmic horror.

The complete line-up features Barber on vocals and guitar, Matthew Bell (Forlorn Citadel) on guitar, Keiran Allen (Akercocke) on bass, Christopher Bowes (Alestorm) on keyboards and Isak Olsson (Twilight Force) on drums.

Live shows start with a headline gig in London on November 21. A UK and Ireland tour with Alestorm and Battle Beast follows in January 2027. More new music is in the works.

Khadaver Unveil Anti-Corporate Anthem in New Single and Video

Prešov cyber metal band Khadaver have released „Human Disposal Limited“, a new single and video ahead of their third studio album. Following their 2024 and 2025 singles, it combines heavy, at times thrash-leaning guitars, hard-hitting drums, distorted synths and aggressive vocals.

Lyrically, it is an anti-corporate anthem: to big companies a person is just a number, discarded when it suits them. Nihil Nix mixed the track and Polish guitarist Marek Kula mastered it.

The video is styled as a corporate instructional film and was again directed and edited by Nihil Nix. It uses footage from Ralph Steiner’s „Mechanical Principles“ and Dziga Vertov’s „Man with a Movie Camera“ to show people as replaceable parts of a machine. It also introduces new bassist Madness, who replaces Attar 9.

The album, „XAOSBLACK“, is out on November 13 and is their first in 11 years. A series of shows in Slovakia and Czechia follows. It culminates on November 28 with the band’s 20th anniversary at Prešov’s 263 Club.
