Peavy (Rage) – ,,The band is in a good mood, and we are simply very creative“

Peavy Rage 2024

Peavy Rage 2024In about twelve days, the German trio Rage will release their 26th album, A New World Rising. This time, Peavy and his band decided to go for songs that are uplifting yet still packed with power. Expect a mix of heavy, power, and thrash metal—overall, it’s a strong, modern record. Check out our interview with Peavy to learn more.

Hello Peavy. You released the album Afterlifelines last year, and this year you released A New World Rising. How did you manage to come up with so many ideas in such a short time?

Peavy: The band is in a good mood, and we are simply very creative. We just love writing songs.

This record is kick-ass, but without orchestrations. The official promo text announced that you will use orchestrations on the next records. Do you already have specific songs prepared for it?

Peavy: We are constantly working on new ideas. It’s too early now to talk about future albums.

Describe the music and lyrics in your own words.

Peavy: The songs have a fresh and pure feeling, and that’s also reflected in the lyrics. I try to give some positive inspiration for making our lives and future good.

Personally, I feel a lot more energy on this record. Unlike Afterlifelines, A New World Rising grabbed me right from the first listen.

Peavy: Thanks, glad to hear that.

Compared to the past, the lyrics feel much more positive. Why did you decide to take this approach?

Peavy: There are too many negative narrations nowadays; I tried to put something more uplifting against that.

If I understood correctly, one of the messages of the album is: “Think independently! Don’t believe everything you’re told!” Aren’t you afraid that some people might take it the wrong way? For example, someone could say: “I want to be independent, so I sympathize with Putin,” or even exaggerate it further: “I want to be independent, so I believe the Earth is flat.”

Peavy: We all should be free to choose whatever we like, as long as it does not interfere with the free choice of others. There’s too much manipulation going on, too much mind control. Humanism should lead us.

What about the live shows? Will you start touring to promote the album later this year?

Peavy: Sure! The first leg of the tour is announced. Just check it.

Where are you planning to perform?

Peavy: The dates are on all our platforms on the internet.

Will there be countries on the tour where you’ve never played before?

Peavy: We continue booking shows for touring; a lot will happen next year. There will also be some countries we’ve never been to so far, like Honduras or Costa Rica. We will announce all gigs in time.

Can you already say which songs you’re definitely going to play? (at least some)

Peavy: We haven’t finalized the setlist yet, sorry.

In our last interview you mentioned working on an autobiography. How is that coming along?

Peavy: It was released already last year (Soundchaser). An English e-book version will be released soon. Wait for our announcements…

What does a typical day look like for you when you’re not in the studio or out on tour?

Peavy: Get up, eat, shit, go to bed…

Do you hang out with the other band members outside of work?

Peavy: Sometimes we do, just imagine…

Thank you very much for the interview. Could you share a message with our readers?

Peavy: Thanks to all for supporting us and the metal scene in general. All this is only possible because of you. We’re all grateful for that. Take care and see you soon 😉
