Anvil – Pounding the Pavement (ER)

The story of band Anvil is really remarkable, and the strong-mindedness and shrillness of members of it should be inspiration for all music groups in the world. So, probably nobody will be surprised that this band release new album at the beginning of this year called Pounding the Pavement. As I said before, story of Anvil is very interesting, so there were many curious ears (mine too) about the new material recorded by this Canadians.

The cover of the album prepare us, and the first song Bitch in the Box assure us in fact, that the way for the Pounding the Pavement is more than typical- classic heavy metal based on music of last decades, but in new and attractive clothes. In practise that mean great guitar riffs, super solo, and catchy refrain. Nothing more, nothing less, we can continue. Ego little more step on gas pedal, so we also can hear some speed metal. The next tune (at minimal it′s title) can be understand such as some paraphrase on music life of members of Anvil – Doing What I Want. And again, classic heavy metal for lovers of this genre. And this is way we walk through the whole CD- sometimes we go more fast, sometimes we return back to the middle tempo, but without some significant breakaway from the assigned borders of genre. As i said before, we can find out roots of this somewhere in the 80s and 90s of the last century, but again in new and modern clothes. That is the main reason, why we can hear quality, catchy and pleasant music. This is that case of music into every weather (like we say in Slovakia)- you can make hard head bang, listen it such as background, or rest out from your problems. I can say nothing negative to the instrumental side, which is also on a high level with big amount of great riffs and melodic parts. The only thing which can not be found on Pounding the Pavement is some metal ballad. But it is not big problem, because also without it we got big amount of great metal music.

Anvil is really big inspiration. Follow your dreams, don′t be afraid of falls, and stay true to yourself. And then can be great album recorded. Great such as Pounding the Pavement. Classic and loyal heavy metal. We got right that, what we have awaited from this band. Big quality, incredible story.
