MARKO HIETALA – Release lyric video for second single ‚Voice Of My Father‘ from the upcoming album „Pyre Of The Black Heart“
17. January 2020
Recently, Finnish singer/ bassist Marko Hietala announced his signing with Nuclear Blast for his upcoming solo album „Pyre Of The Black Heart“, that is set to be released on January 24th.
Tarcklist:
- Stones
- The Voice Of My Father
- Star, Sand And Shadow
- Dead God’s Son
- For You
- I Am The Way
- Runner Of The Railways
- Death March For Freedom
- I Dream
- Truth Shall Set You Free
Today, he reveals the lyric video for the second single ‚Voice of my Father‘, which you can see here:
About the goal behind his solo album, Marko Hietala comments, „Well, let’s put it this way: NIGHTWISH is without any doubt my main band, and thanks to income from that direction, I don’t have to be that commercially aware… What I mean is that when I was coming up with the musical thoughts for this solo record, I was able to do simply anything without limits. So if I had a goal, it was to not have any kind of limits, but to prepare an unpredictable, spontaneous, adventurous, ferocious and intimate solo record. And now when I am listening to the final album by myself, I can say with my hand on my heart that I – or rather us – pulled it off… The record is a really diverse musical roller coaster ride that takes eager listeners into a world of strong emotions and deep feelings!“
Hietala‚s voice has barely faded away, and he is already honouring his skillful band mates. „Even if „Pyre Of The Black Heart“ is definitely my solo album, I didn’t compose everything on my own. When the song writing process was really in full swing, I kept sending all the ideas to my long-time collaborators Tuomas Wäinölä [guitar] and Vili Ollila [keyboards], and this ingenious two-some came up with great additions and arrangements, one after another. Drummer Anssi Nykänen – who is simply a wizard behind his set – completed the line-up like no other.“

AMBERIAN DAWN To Release Title Track And Official Video, “Looking For You” | New Album Out Jan 31st 2020
16. January 2020
ABBA-Metal pioneers AMBERIAN DAWN just released their third single, the title track “Looking For You”, along with an official video via Napalm Records. In a nutshell, this high voltage fusion perfectly represents the upcoming album and its poetic sound.
Tracklist:
- United
- Eternal Fire Burning
- Looking for You
- Two Blades
- Symphony Nr. 1 Part 3 – Awakening
- Go for a Ride
- Butterfly
- Universe
- Lay All Your Love on Me (ABBA cover)
- Au Revoir
- Cherish My Memory (remastered)
The offical video for “Looking For You“ aesthetically mirrors the conflict between memories, desires and leaving your ancient life behind. Monumental melodic vocal lines that remind of the Swedish pop giants ABBA pair with strong keyboard-driven, 80’s pop influenced sounds and merge with heavy drums and guitar riffs into an impressive genre-fluid creation. This addictive mix can only be described as follows – Finnish ABBA-Metal at its finest! AMBERIAN DAWN developed their style and spiced it up by entering and creating a new musical universe.
Tuomas states:
”This is the Crown Jewel of the album. This song is exactly what so-called ABBA-Metal is all about. Haunting and dramatic keyboards, strong melodies and tons of vocal tracks. I worked closely with Finnish synthesizer artist Kebu to achieve this wonderful vintage keyboard sound. I let myself go into world of 80’s synthesizer music and then my band mates helped me to arrange the song into an AMBERIAN DAWN-song.“
Looking For You, out on January 31, 2020, proves that ABBA and metal do not mutually exclude each other. AMBERIAN DAWN is navigating into a new style, which is even more melodic, keyboard driven and not only a sophisticated symbiosis but yet their own style: “Melodic ABBA-Metal from Finland”. The new album is packed with well-polished and immaculate songwriting, full of catchy melodies and epic keyboard parts that immediately send shivers down your spine.
The multi-faceted and emotional lyrics provide a suitable background for soaring guitars and elegant classical interludes: a highly addictive cocktail that is topped off by a cover version of ABBA’s “Lay All Your Love On Me”!
With their musical style changing from power metal to symphonic metal over the last few years, AMBERIAN DAWN are now navigating into yet another new style, which is even more melodic, keyboard driven and influenced by the Swedish band ABBA. Therefore, they’ve been working closely with award-winning Finnish artist Kebu for over a month to create the ingenious keyboard sound that can be heard on the recording.
